APPLICATION PROCEDURE

Thank you for your interest in the Cascades East Family Medicine Residency Program. The Residency Program has nine PGY-1 positions available each year. Applications for the next Intern class must be completed through the Electronic Residency Application System (ERAS). We only accept first year residents through the National Resident Matching Program. We will only be interviewing virtually in the 2024-2025 application cycle.

Requirements for Applicants:

  • Only ERAS applications will be accepted

  • Three letters of recommendation are required (one from a family physician preferred)

  • Personal Statement: We have no specific requirements but would like to hear why you are choosing Family Medicine

Additional Information for International Medical Graduates:

  • Applicants must be legally able to work in the U.S. or eligible to obtain work authorization

  • U.S. clinical experience is required unless it has been less than two years since the date you graduated from medical school

For the 2024-2025 Interview Season:

We will send invitations based on a holistic application review and notify you if you have been selected for an interview. All of our interviews will be virtual this year as part of our commitment to equity, containing costs, and reducing carbon footprints. We release interview offers on a rolling basis daily at 10am (PST).

As rural family physicians, we recognize the significant role that a sense of community plays in our identity, health, and how we live. We honor this sense of place by allowing applicants to come and visit the program and the beautiful area that is Klamath Falls. These visits will be open to all applicants who interviewed with us and will be truly optional.

  • Applicants visiting the Klamath Falls area prior to completion of the interview season will not have the opportunity to meet with program leadership but are welcome to make use of our self-guided community tour.

  • Our program’s final rank list will be completed prior to any structured in-person visits.

  • We share this information to enhance equity and support applicants through their decision-making process.

Our structured in-person visits are scheduled the weekends of January 11th/12th, and February 1st/2nd.

Post-interview communication:

  • We are committed to following the recommendations of the Match and do not require any post-interview communication.

  • In this time of virtual interviews, we understand that you may have additional questions that have not been answered through the interview process.

    • You are welcome to reach out to us with those questions and we will help you get answers or connect with one of our faculty or residents who can share their experiences.

  • You can expect us to send a thank you communication after your interview.

    • We never intend to convey through our post-interview communication any potentially misleading information, nor do we intend for this to be misconstrued as requesting statements in response.

    • We hope to virtually show you our strong sense of community and let you know how much we care about each of our applicants, and we see the thank you card afterwards as an additional way to demonstrate this.

Student Electives

Our clinic hosts many visiting students throughout the academic year through a robust family medicine sub-internship. Please see Student Electives under the Curriculum link for details on these rotations and applicant requirements. These electives provide an excellent opportunity to check out the program and life in Klamath Falls.
